How to clean Classic Vans shoes?

I know someone is bound to put washing machine, but that has made the sides of my shoes curvy and stiff in previous uses with Flats.
Also, I dont think a washrag is going to be completely affective
Wash them.

In the washing machine:)
in a sink of warm soapy water, and a nail brush, dry them off with a towel afterwards.
